Slate Flour
These are inexpensive and locally available. They are used as an extender in paint and coatings, rubber, and adhesives, as well as many other products. The agriculture industry uses slate flour as a carrier for spray insecticides. Many applications find slate flour a good alternative to calcium carbonate, because of its chemical inertness.
Pyrophyllite, another product in this group, has a somewhat plately structure, which permits smoother extrusion of plastic resins. (For more information on Pyrophyllite, contact Keystone.)
Grades available: All slate flours are ground to your specifications.
Some applications are: Paints, polishes, coatings, plastics, rubber products, brake linings, insecticide carriers.
